HeUnited States deportation flight corresponding to the month of April arrived this Thursday afternoon at the "José Martí" International Airport in Havana with47 illegal immigrants on board.
A note from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) on Facebook indicates that "this Thursday, April 25, thefourth air return operation of irregular migrants by the US authorities this year, through the "José Martí" international airport, with a total of 47 Cuban citizens.
He explained thatseven of them had left the country by sea and the rest legally (mostly through Nicaragua); but later they joined irregular routes toreach the US border.
The information details thatthree of the deported immigrants had fled the country after committing serious crimes.
These "were transferred to the investigative body because they were alleged to have committed serious criminal acts, which were being investigated," underlines the MININT.
The return of immigrants was carried out on a US airline planeGlobal X.
The MININT stressed that this is the 32nd return operation from different countries in the region with 476 people returned so far this year.
The third flight from the US occurred in March, when 61 Cuban irregular immigrants arrived in the country.
On Friday, the Cuban regime announced that it is willing to accept more deportations of immigrants from the United States, restarted last year amid an exodus of Cubans unprecedented in history.
The Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Fernández de Cossío, declared toCBS News that Cuba could receive more than one flight per month.
