They report finding the remains of a dog on the street of Santiago de Cuba: "They eat them"

The discovery of the remains of a dog in the middle of the street in Santiago de Cuba seems to confirm that in the midst of the serious food crisis on the island, many Cubans are eating pets or stray animals.

The rescuers grouped in the group of Facebook "Saving Forgotten Animals of Santiago" reported that the skin and paws of a dog were abandoned in the container on a sidewalk on 4th and M streets, near a medicine factory in Reparto Sueño.

"They still eat dogs in Santiago de Cuba. Police have to take action", emphasizes the publication.

At the beginning of April, animal activist Yenney Caballero Peña announced a massive slaughter of dogs in San José de Las Lajas, Mayabeque, to sell your meat and managed to get the police to arrest those involved.

A week later the same woman reported finding new remains in the middle of the street.

In a short video posted on Facebook, the activist showed a bag with remains of a dog and showed the area where he made the discovery, where he assured that there were more evidence.

The Cuban government spoke out through an informative note signed by the Ministry of Agriculture that focused on repudiating the killing of dogs in that territory, while indicating that an investigation into what happened is being carried out through the National Health Center. Animal (CENASA).

In addition, they assured that "they will apply with the utmost rigor the administrative, disciplinary and contravention sanctions that correspond to this type of incident, in accordance with the provisions of the Animal Welfare Policy and current legal regulations."
