Bahamas authorities returned on Friday 26 Cuban irregular migrants who had been captured in their waters while trying to reach the United States.

With that operation they added 34 returns from different countries in the region with 505 people so far in 2024.
Most of the repatriations are carried out from the United States, which last week deported three groups of irregular migrants.
Two operations were carried out by the North American Coast Guard and the third arrived by air, on the deportation flight corresponding to the month of April.
Last year Cuba received a total of 5,253 nationals deported, mostly from the United States, Mexico, Bahamas, Belize, Cayman Islands and the Dominican Republic.
In the midst of the unprecedented migration crisis that the island has been experiencing since 2021, the Havana regime recently stated that it was willing to receive a second deportation flight from the United States every month.
