Carlos Benítez, 37 years old, was a member of the Cuban national teams that participated in several competitions: among them the IV World Classic in 2017 and the editions of the Caribbean Series in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2023.

The player, who was captain of the Alazanes de Granma at the time of leaving the country, was considered one of the best second basemen in Cuban baseball in recent years., especially on an offensive level.

Before withdrawing from the national tournament last year, he was hitting .323 and his production included three home runs.

The last championship did not turn out to be the best for him, nor was the I Cuban Elite Baseball League, given that his sporting performance was diminished by injuries.

However, he managed to win both the National Series with the Alazanes (fourth title) and the Elite League with Agricultores.

Benítez joined the list of players - and athletes in general - who in recent years have said goodbye to their disciplines in favor of a new life, far from the scarcity and misery prevailing on the island.

"That was the biggest hit that #carlosbenítez hit in the National Series. Many successes in this new and wonderful life with his family!", stated an Internet user in Yasel Porto's publication, in a comment that received wide approval.
