The Cuban pitching promise Jan Ewing Cabrera will be represented on his path by signing with a team from the Major League Baseball (MLB), for Wasserman Media Group ―the second most powerful sports agency, according to Forbes magazine―
Reporting the news, sports journalist Francys Romero, from his Facebook profile, noted that “Cabrera, 19 years old, is in the Dominican Republic looking to sign with an MLB organization.”
The communicator recalled that this young man was “one of the best youth talents between 2022 and 2023”, and that in addition, “he was a member of the Cuba U-18 team.”
The right-handed pitcher from Villa Clara left Cuba in March, adding to the growing exodus of ballplayers in training that is occurring on the island.
At the end of that month, Romero himself indicated that Cabrera was close to starting training on Dominican soil.
Days later, the young man was caught in a gym session. “Potential pitcher above 95 mph with secondary pitches to be a starter,” Romero added.
With Wasserman, the Villa Clara native must achieve his goal of entering MLB. The agency, in addition to being recognized, has worked with other Cubans such as the Gurriel brothers and of Yasiel Puig.
