Cubans answer when was the last time they ate beef: “I don't even remember”

Some Baracoa residents say they haven't eaten beef in months. Others don't even remember the last time they tasted it.


The activist Aníbal Ferrand walked the streets of Baracoa, asking people when was the last time they ate beef, thus revealing the impact of the economic crisis on the nutrition of the population in this city.

Ferrand, who usually shows daily life in the eastern city on his social networks, shared on Tuesday in Facebook the results of his journey, warning that many people They barely remember what beef is.

“Years ago, I do not remember” declared one person.

In a group of young people, one of them commented that the day before, while another said that from two months ago.

At the same picket, two stated that they have not eaten beef for a long time.

Beef?“said a young man, making gestures as if he had forgotten that food. “That exist?”, he noted.

“I know the others, but I forgot that one", stressed the boy. His girlfriend emphasized that she hasn't seen beef in a while.

Many Cuban homes, a product of the worsening of the economic crisis, have seen several foods disappear from their tables, including beef.
