The Cuban Electrical Union reported blackouts on Wednesday for 24 hours due to a deficit of more than 1,200 MW, a sign that the electricity crisis is worsening by the day.
Reality once again exceeded the prediction of the experts, who They announced an impact of 810 MW. However, at 8:50 pm values of 1268 MW were recorded, 458 more than the estimate.
It would not be strange if the same thing happened this Thursday, when the forecast for daytime hours is 750 MW and 1010 MW during peak hours.
According to him part of the Electrical Union (UNE), at this time there is only one thermoelectric unit out of service due to a breakdown: 2 of the CTE Felton.
Five blocks of the Santa Cruz, Nuevitas, Mariel and La Vega thermoelectric plants are under maintenance. Felton, which left the national electrical system on Monday and will be on duty for 25 days.
In addition, 38 distributed generation plants are not operating due to lack of fuel, with 338 MW affected by this concept.
More than 300 Internet users commented on the post, outraged by the situation that worsens every day and the consequences it has for the population, who live in perennial suffering due to the heat, without being able to rest or carry out their normal activities.
"We have already broken the 1000 MW deficit barrier. Let's go for more, yes we can," said a man.
"And the president walking through Russia," questioned a woman from Sancti Spiritus.
"Cuba is advancing (towards the primitive community), we are just a little bit away," said a woman from Camagüey.
"Guantánamo, the mother of blackouts in Cuba. That they have just given a rope or a module of ropes per core, is the only thing missing," said a doctor.
"I don't know how you can endure so much, people go to work after a whole night without sleep, just like children go to school. I don't know how long..." said a Cienfuegos resident.
"Who was the engineer who scheduled so many maintenances at the same time. They're going to kill us, damn it," said a young craftsman.
The UNE indicated on Wednesday that Blackouts will increase during the month of June due to the increase in maintenance work at several thermoelectric plants.
"In these months from January to June, maintenance activities at thermal, energy and distributed generation plants increase, with the purpose of reaching the months of greatest electricity consumption and demand, which are July and August, months of rest. the population," the entity explained.
The company stated that it will comply with "the maintenance plan until the last days of June" in order to minimize the effects in the summer.
However, in July and August there will also be blackouts "if there are some unforeseen outages of generation units."
