A motorcycle caught fire on the Central Highway in Cuba as it passed through the city of Ciego de Ávila, forcing a momentary diversion of traffic on that important artery of the country.
"Ciego de Ávila, I don't know details," indicated a user from the Facebook group 'Accidentes Buses & Camiones', who shared a video of the incident that occurred this Thursday at the intersection of Carretera Central and 3rd street in the city.
In the images, you can see the vehicle engulfed in flames and a crowd of onlookers observing the scene. On Central Road, a police patrol temporarily halted traffic, diverting cars and buses from the area, as can be seen in the recording.
It is not known whether the firefighters responded to extinguish the fire, as well as the causes that led to it.
This type of fires has become part of the urban landscape of Cuba. The increase in the number of electric motorcycles, the fuel crisis, and the lack of spare parts and approved maintenance have an impact on the number of incidents of this nature.
In mid-April, a large fire devastated the garage of a house in the municipality of Ranchuelo, Villa Clara province, due to a failure in the battery of an electric motorcycle.
A week earlier, the home of a Cuban family was left in ashes after a fire caused by the explosion of an electric motorcycle and the delayed arrival of firefighters who responded to the scene two hours after the incident.
