An accident that occurred this week at the central intersection of 23 and G in El Vedado caught the attention of dozens of internet users not because of the severity of the incident, which fortunately was not serious, but because of the circumstances and those involved.
23rd St and G in Vedado... Traffic light out and the Mercedes coming up G didn't respect the Stop and rear-ended the other gray one... The girl in the Mercedes doesn't have a license and the other car belongs to MINREX," reported a witness, Alex Figueras, in the Facebook group Accidents Buses & Trucks.
The internet user shared a couple of photos in which a flashy and eye-catching green Mercedes could be seen being guarded by a young woman, who would be the alleged unlicensed driver.
In the images, it can be seen that the gray Peugeot - which the source indicated would belong to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs - bore the brunt of the accident, as it suffered damage to the rear part of the bodywork.
After the case was presented, dozens of commentators expressed all sorts of opinions, most of them criticizing the Mercedes driver and speculating that she must be the daughter of "someone," so she will not have any trouble taking responsibility for the incident or that they will blame the other driver.
"The girl from the Mercedes is surely related to those who take out the little toys from the garage. Now all the blame is on the other driver," commented a commentator.
The direct witness of the incident, who made the publication, indicated that the young woman even wanted to leave and let everything go, but that the driver of the MINREX car said to her: "No, no, no, who is going to pay for all this?"
At one point, he told her that he would cover everything, but not to call the police. However, it was much later because at first she was blaming the MINREX partner, saying that he was coming at high speed along 23," the source added.
"Both are from the same clique, they'll sort it out"; "The MINREX helped dad send a car to his daughter and she ends up crashing into a MINREX car"; "I wish I could find a culprit like that, so they can pay for all the bodywork and paint I need," remarked other commentators, using humor.
There were also those who pointed out that this is the second MINREX car that has been crashed in El Vedado in recent days, something that many attribute to the lack of electricity in several traffic lights, a reason that is not enough for some.
"When the traffic light is out, there are vertical signals that indicate the right of way; “The traffic light is optional because there are horizontal signals, but people always act based on common practice”; “If it is signaled, the person ignored the STOP sign and does not have a license, what is the relevance of the lack of electricity?” They are always blaming the power outage, there are signs on every corner," several users in the group commented, emphasizing the need to have knowledge of traffic laws beyond power outages."
