A man lost his life and another suffered serious injuries when a truck crashed into a car in the municipality of Guanabacoa, in Havana, this Monday.
The fatal accident occurred at the intersection of Santo Domingo and Estrada Palma streets in the Havana locality, when the Fiat Polski car did not respect a "Stop" sign and was hit by the truck, according to a post on Facebook.
"Unfortunately, the driver of the Polski died, and the passenger is in critical condition," stated the author of the post, who expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
Members of the group "Accidents Buses & Trucks for more experience and fewer victims!" commented that crashes are frequent at that intersection because most drivers do not stop at the "Stop" sign.
Some even claimed that at that intersection there are three signs indicating the obligation to stop before proceeding, but unfortunately many drivers ignore them.
Another tragic accident that occurred this weekend cut short the lives of three young people and left another seriously injured, as they were returning home after attending a concert by the reggaeton artist Yomil Hidalgo at the Bariay club in the city of Holguín.
Journalist Cuscó Tarradell was also involved in a traffic accident on Saturday night in Santiago de Cuba, in which he suffered minor injuries.
Last Friday, Matanzas team pitcher Noelvis Entenza González was involved in a car accident when the vehicle he was traveling in with his family overturned as they were heading to that city to celebrate his mother's birthday.
At the beginning of the month, a serious accident occurred in Camajuaní, Villa Clara, which resulted in the death of a Cuban and injuries to 26 Canadian tourists who were traveling from Cayo Santamaría to Abel Santamaría International Airport on a Transgaviota bus.
During 2023, 8,556 traffic accidents were recorded in the country, resulting in the death of 729 people and 5,938 people being injured.
