A Cuban man was arrested after stealing $100,000 worth of tobacco and alcoholic beverages in Miami-Dade

The Cuban stole a trailer that was destined for a cruise ship.

A Cuban man was arrested in southwest Miami-Dade hours after the theft of a trailer containing items valued at $100,000.

According to the police report cited by local media, a trailer containing products such as tobacco, alcoholic beverages, sunglasses, and clothing was reported stolen on Monday.

Before the incident occurred, the trailer and its cargo were headed to the Crown Princess cruise ship in San Francisco.

Manuel Ángel Pérez-Jacom, 34, was arrested that same day in the area of Southwest 288th Street and 137th Avenue in Homestead after police found "multiple boxes" containing some of the stolen property in a vehicle he was driving.

Pérez was unable to provide any valid documentation explaining his possession of the stolen items.

During the court hearing, his lawyer stated that the fact he possessed those items did not mean he had stolen them, a point that did not convince Judge Mindy S. Glazer.

The suspect faces a charge of grand theft, with a bail set at $7,500, and another charge of trafficking in stolen property, with a bail of $10,000.

Although the Cuban was incarcerated, by the time this note was published, he was no longer listed in the records of the TGK prison.

At the time of this report, there are no further details regarding the case.
