A private taxi caught on fire on Thursday afternoon on a road from the province of Holguín to the city of Bayamo, Granma, according to the images shared on Facebook in the group Accidents, Buses & Trucks for more experience and fewer victims.
The user Roberto Carlo Estrada Guerra posted several images of the incident, which apparently had the quick intervention of a fire truck, although the car was left in bad condition.
In one of the videos shared by Estrada, you can see the vehicle completely burned, as well as several people watching the firefighters' work in the vicinity of the Frank País International Airport.
At the time of writing this note, the causes of the incident and whether there were any injured people are unknown.
Recently, a state car belonging to the Specialized Protection Services company (Sepsa) caught fire in the Siboney neighborhood, in the municipality of Playa in Havana.
Something similar happened with a Mercedes-Benz car on Boyeros Avenue, also in the capital, where the smoke column was quite dense.
The fires of this kind are becoming increasingly frequent in Cuba, especially since the "boom" of electric motorcycles. In mid-April of this year, one of these "caught fire on its own" inside a home in Santos Suárez, Diez de Octubre.
Recently, a large fire destroyed the garage of a home in the municipality of Ranchuelo, Villa Clara province, due to a battery failure in an electric motorcycle.
It happened at house number 14, on Antonio Maceo street between Juan B. Contreras and Camilo Cienfuegos. The fire left the motorbike completely unusable and caused structural damage to the building, but no human losses were reported.
Additionally, another electric motorcycle caught fire in Havana in April and left a family home heavily damaged, while in March, one more was practically reduced to ashes after catching fire on a street in the city of Jagüey Grande, in Matanzas.
In any case, the most voracious fire remembered in Cuba dates back to August 5, 2022, when lightning struck a tank with 40 thousand gallons of fuel at the Supertanker Base in Matanzas. The incident left 17 dead.
