Cuban migrants detained after crossing the border in Texas

The agents detained three Honduran children who were traveling unaccompanied with a little piece of paper that had an address in Baltimore.

The American Border Patrol detained a large group of immigrants, many of them Cubans and unaccompanied children, after illegally crossing the Texas border.

The troops arrested a total of 131 illegal immigrants in Maverick County for "criminal trespass", reported on the social network X Chris Olivarez, from the Department of Public Safety.

The groups included 80 men and 51 women from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic," the publication states.

The number of detained Cubans is not specified.

The information adds, however, that agents rescued three unaccompanied children from Honduras who had a note with an address in Baltimore.

Apparently, the group would have arrived on American soil by crossing the Rio Grande, according to a video published by Olivarez.

The operation is part of the state of Texas' efforts to reduce illegal crossings through the border area belonging to its territory, through the controversial Operation Lone Star, launched in 2021 by Governor Greg Abbott.

The Republican blames President Joe Biden's administration policies for the massive arrival and illegal entry of migrants across the Texas border with Mexico.

Last week, Biden signed a group of executive actions that will prevent irregular migrants who cross the southern border illegally from receiving asylum in the United States.

The president issued an order under sections 212(f) and 215(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) suspending entry for non-citizens who illegally cross the border. Cubans, Venezuelans, Haitians, and Nicaraguans would be returned to Mexico, and only those who arrive at the border with an appointment through the CBP One platform could apply for asylum, according to the document.

One day later, Mexican president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) announced that he was seeking an agreement with the United States government so that immigrants are not returned to Mexico following the implementation of the measure approved by Biden.
