Bellingham saves England, the "fool" Weghorst saves the Netherlands.

The British navy barely displayed the power of their squad and only a header by Bellingham resolved the situation. Weghorst showed he was no fool in leading the Dutch comeback.

Without the necessary firepower to overwhelm rocky Serbia, England relied on Jude Bellingham's royalty this Sunday to successfully tackle their debut at the Euro 2024 football, while Wout Weghorst, the "fool" of Qatar 2022 because of Lionel Messi, emerged as the hero of the Netherlands.

In the debut of group C, the British team barely showed the power of its squad, and only a header from Bellingham resolved the situation to the satisfaction of coach Gareth Southgate, conservative in his approach and capable of containing the strength of players like Harry Kane and Phil Foden, among others.

And to think that the English favorites had a dream start! The Real Madrid star put the score at 1-0 on the Veltins-Arena scoreboard, with only 13 minutes on the clock. However, the team lacked ideas for the rest of the match, which is why the 40 thousand souls acknowledged the value of the goal scorer in the epilogue.

"Hey Juuuude...! Hey Juuuude...!" shouted the fans as he was substituted in the closing stretch. A clear way to pay homage to the great architect of victory, because even the Serbians put pressure on Southgate's troops on several occasions. Even the Champions League's king club celebrated on the X social network.

In this very match, Denmark and Slovenia drew one goal each. The highlight of the game was Christian Eriksen's goal, three years after suffering a cardiac arrest in the previous tournament.

On the other hand, in Group D, the Dutch staged the comeback of the day against Poland (2-1), despite the absence of the lethal striker Robert Lewandowski due to muscular issues.

Despite the significant absence, Adam Buksa put the Poles ahead at 16 minutes, after heading in a corner kick. The joy was short-lived, as Cody Gakpo equalized at 29 to keep the suspense going until the closing stages.

So, in '83, Weghorst, one of the protagonists of the legendary phrase "what are you looking at, fool, go over there" from Messi, scored the second goal for Ronald Koeman's squad. The most sensational part is that he had only been on the field for 120 seconds.

The European appointment, whose final is scheduled for July 14th in Berlin, the capital of Germany, will continue tomorrow with the matches France-Austria, Romania-Ukraine, and Belgium-Slovakia.
