Cuban pitcher Fernando Ramos Ramirez, 21 years old, signed a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, a team in the East Division of Major League Baseball.

According to sports journalist Francys Romero, the young athlete from Camagüey is the 20th Cuban to sign in the current international period.

Romero highlighted about this pitcher that "he has a fastball that has reached 94-95 mph, as well as throwing a cutter, splitter, and curveball."

Fernando Ramos left Cuba in August 2023 bound for the Dominican Republic, where he remained searching for the long-awaited signature with a Major League organization.

He reached 93 miles per hour in the Cuban domestic championship and participated from the bullpen in 25 games with a final record of 5-3, 2.84 ERA, and 33 strikeouts in 44.1 innings. The young man is 1.85 meters tall and currently weighs 180 pounds, according to the Cuban Baseball site in the USA.

In the Phillies, the Havana-born catcher Yadimir Fuentes and the Cienfuegos infielder Denilson Águila also play.

On June 12th, another Cuban pitcher, Norge Vera, signed a two-year Minor League contract with the Oakland Athletics.

At 24 years old, the young man will be at the Athletics' complex in Arizona before being assigned to the Minor Leagues, Francys Romero indicated.
