Spain secured their place in the round of 16 of Euro 2024 this Thursday, after defeating a timid Italian team, the reigning champion, 1-0, in a day of football with few goals.

In Germany, the venue of the competition, "La Roja" dominated "Azzurra" at will, who, due to poor aim, saw a goal in their own net by Riccardo Calafiori in the 55th minute, deciding one of the classics in the "Old Continent".

Pedro, Lamine Yamal, and Nico Williams, the latter being the protagonist of an authentic outstanding game at an individual level, came close to basking in glory; however, the opportunities did not materialize, and the Spanish dominance was not reflected on the scoreboard.

Nico Williams was chosen as MVP/X/@EURO2024.

With this victory, the team led by coach Luis de la Fuente maintained their undefeated status and reached six points pending the match against Albania in Group B, while Luciano Spalleti's troops will play for their "lives" against the always dangerous Croatia of Luka Modrić.

England, another team that continues to not show on the field the qualities it possesses on paper, drew 1-1 against Denmark to capture a point that keeps them at the top of group C, although they still do not convince.

This time, the English team took the lead in the 18th minute, after a rebound that ended up at the feet of the eternal goal-scorer Harry Kane. However, Morten Hjulmand (34) leveled the score thanks to a powerful shot from about 30 meters.

In a nail-biting finish, Serbia and Slovenia also ended in a one-one draw in the other match of Group C.

Žan Karničnik opened the scoring for the Slovenians in the 69th minute, but substitute Luka Jović (95) leveled in added time to the joy of their fans, who even set off flares at the majestic Allianz Arena in the city of Munich.

The competitive calendar holds the matches Slovakia-Ukraine, Poland-Austria, and another European classic: France-Netherlands for tomorrow.
