During the recent floods in Havana, a group of young people have been risking their lives by hanging onto trucks, cars, and vehicles of all kinds to slide on the accumulated water in the streets.
This dangerous practice was observed in several areas affected by Saturday's rains and puts not only teenagers at risk, but also other users of the city streets.
The official journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso expressed his concern about this issue on the social network Facebook and shared videos that demonstrate how young people run through the streets among vehicles to choose which one to hang onto.
"The presence of teenagers on the street, hanging onto moving vehicles in high-traffic avenues under the rain is very concerning. We will reflect on this matter in the coming days," he said.
The streets of Havana are full of trash, glass, and other sharp objects that worsen the situation, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries.
In addition, young people can be hit by other vehicles, causing potentially fatal accidents and jeopardizing road safety.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay at home during floods and parents to closely monitor their children to prevent these reckless behaviors.
It is expected that the rains will continue in the coming days, which could further worsen the situation. The community must remain vigilant and act responsibly to prevent tragedies.
