The fire of an electric motorcycle engulfed a garage in flames in a matter of seconds and left a Lada car charred this Monday in Santa Clara, province of Las Villas.

Reports on social media indicated that the owner of the motorcycle plugged it in to charge once he arrived in the garage, where there were also three gas cylinders. The combination of so many flammable elements quickly triggered a large-scale fire.

"Look at this, a motorcycle caught fire today in Santa Clara next to a garage with a Lada and three gas cylinders. It took less than five minutes for the flames to consume everything. Incredibly, the firefighters arrived almost immediately. The owner said he had just arrived from the street and had connected it," reported a user from the Facebook group ‘Accidents Buses & Trucks’.

Identified on social media as Gsm Cuba, the user shared pictures of the vehicles' condition once the flames were extinguished. Both the motorcycle and the Lada were completely charred.

"It's incredible how the lithium battery burns. I experienced something like that. I dragged the e-bike burning my hands to get it out of the house. When the batteries start to explode, it's one after another and that fire can't be put out by anything. Lithium batteries have caused a lot of damage. You never know when they're going to explode," commented a user on the post.

GSM Cuba supported him and claimed to have witnessed the incident "from the beginning. I uploaded the videos, but the administration has not approved them. From the moment the smoke began until it all ended, 34 seconds passed. After that, all it did was burn, but with decreasing intensity".

Despite the quick action of the firefighters, the fire could not be extinguished immediately and ended up burning everything inside the garage. According to the testimony of many affected individuals, fires caused by lithium battery explosions are difficult to put out and usually extinguish once they consume all the flammable material around them.

Recently, a married couple lost their lives after their house caught on fire due to the explosion of a motorbike in La Lisa, Havana. Their three children - a nine-year-old boy and two 21-year-old twins - are in critical condition.

"I am a relative of the girl from the gasoline explosion. Yes, unfortunately she passed away and her husband as well. My cousin is in critical condition, with third-degree burns all over his body, and the twins are also in critical condition. The boy woke up today in a more critical state, he is nine years old, and the two girls are also in critical condition. They are twenty-one-year-old twins," explained the source to the social media user who shared the sad news.

Kirenia Cancio Domínguez, 43, and her husband, Alejandro Fernández de las Cagigas, died in the accident. Both worked at the Comodoro Hotel, according to close sources to the couple.

The child Eleonay Rankin Cancio remains in critical condition in a hospital, while the twins Alejandra and Laura Fernández Pérez are admitted to the burn unit of the Calixto García Hospital, also in a life-threatening situation.

At the beginning of June, a couple and their 21-year-old son died during the early morning in Havana after a fire broke out in their home, caused by the explosion of an electric motorcycle.

The tragic incident took place on 62A street between 23 and 25, in the Buenavista neighborhood of the Playa municipality, according to reports on social media.

The victims were identified as Ghislen, her husband Víctor, the couple's 21-year-old son José, who was studying at the José Antonio Echeverría Technological University of Havana (CUJAE).

The publication reported that it took firefighters 45 minutes to arrive and extinguish the fire, even though Fire Station number 8 was less than a kilometer away from the scene of the incident.

The neighbors did everything possible to rescue them, but they could not break the bars of the door and windows. They ran to the firefighters, and they said they couldn't go to the place without being notified by the command post. What a disaster!," concluded the publication.
