Héctor Labadí Hierrezuelo, director of a Young Club in Santiago de Cuba and a recent victim of an attack at his home, expressed his gratitude on social media this Sunday to the individuals who saved his life.

"I take advantage of the morning to first thank God, the young man and neighbor who saved me, my wonderful family, the medical team at the Military Hospital, my wonderful coworkers and provincial director, and my dear friends," Labadí wrote on Facebook, as he recovers after being brutally stabbed in recent days.

The executive expressed that he has also received countless expressions of affection from his friends abroad, "ever since those damned murderers tried to take my life."

Labadí expressed that he will soon return to his job, walking along Enramadas Street and joking with everyone he meets along the way.

Journalist Yosmany Mayet, who has been reporting on the bloody incident, posted on Facebook this Sunday that the reasons behind the attack have not yet been clarified, nor is there certainty about the number of people involved.

According to the communicator, the workers at Joven Club published the first photos of the alleged attackers, but "they left a significant margin of doubt, because they identified a young man as the assailant who has been out of the country for many months."

“I have contacted the victim several times to get first-hand information about what happened, but he has declined to respond, leaving my questions unanswered,” said Mayeta.

Social media has reported various incidents of violence, highlighting the need for greater security measures in the community.

Last Tuesday, a man slashed the face of his partner, a young teacher, in the city of Santiago de Cuba. The victim, Tatiana Alcolea, is 24 years old and is the mother of two small children from a previous relationship.

Also recently, a man was killed on Thursday in a fight in Songo la Maya, a municipality in Santiago de Cuba.

In April, a foreigner was stabbed in the same city, and all indications suggest that the motive was robbery.
