Tourist car crashes into a pole at the Tejas Corner, Havana.

Despite the car damages, there were no injuries. "Just by talking to the driver, you could feel a strong smell of alcohol on his breath," said a witness.

A tourist car crashed into a pole on Sunday morning at the well-known Tejas Corner in the Cerro municipality of the capital city.

Photos shared in the Facebook group "BUS & TRUCK ACCIDENTS for more experience and fewer victims!" by user Dania Gutiérrez Cala show the severe damages suffered by the vehicle.

"That's when you come through Infanta and turn right to find Monte, the background is the 20-story park," detailed in a comment.

"And the driver came out just fine, even though it may seem unbelievable," he pointed out.

Another member of the group named Javier Ernesto Ocaña López recounted that the car went by him on Infanta Street at 100 kilometers per hour, and after the collision, he was the one who assisted the driver and called the SIUM.

Having a bad day is one thing, but crashing due to that is different from wrecking a car while under the influence of alcohol. In the same way, the person could have hit a pedestrian, whether a child, a young person, or an adult," he questioned.

"Just by hearing the driver speak, his strong alcoholic breath could be felt," he stated.

According to Ocaña López, if the driver is alive it is thanks to the fact that both airbags, theirs and the one on the passenger seat, deployed.

In another post in the same group, he detailed that the tires on the left side lifted when turning at such high speed and that with the impact, the car lost its front bumper.

"He passed by me on Infanta Street at over 100, I was in my Moskvitch and it messed up my hair. And at that speed, he ran into the knife at the Corner of Tejas, and that's the result. He hit the iron pole right there, he should thank God and the airbag that deployed. Yes, he was driving with over 100 degrees of alcohol in his system. God bless him and I hope nothing bad happens to him, because the pain is starting now. Alcohol and the steering wheel don't mix," he emphasized.

"Thank God there were no people walking at that time, otherwise, I would have hit someone," he emphasized.
