Actor Héctor Echemendía enjoys his retirement outside of Cuba.

The popular Cuban actor Héctor Echemendía is outside of Cuba enjoying his retirement.

This was revealed in a publication by a close friend of the renowned actor, who did not specify the location where Echemendía is currently residing.

"I want to share with all his audience, this recent photo of our dear, First Actor of Cuba, Héctor Echemendía. Héctor is enjoying his well-deserved retirement, in good health, surrounded by the joy of his family and friends. He sends a big hug, for the affection and love he has always received from all of you," wrote the user Mayito Cordero Pérez on Facebook.

In the shared photo, Echemendía is seen on a balcony, smiling and wearing a plaid shirt.

Days later, it was the DCuba Facebook profile that mentioned that Echemendía is residing in Belgium, "along with his children".

"His departure marks the beginning of a new stage in his life, far from the spotlight but surrounded by the love of his family, after a successful career in the Cuban entertainment industry," they added.

In both publications, messages of remembrance and gratitude for Echemendía's acting work were quick to appear.

"Excellent actor. I wish that he can enjoy his stay with his children," commented an internet user.

Many blessings in this new stage of your life. It's a very good decision to be with your children, we will always remember you as what you are, a magnificent Cuban actor," wrote a user.

"A well-deserved retirement, we will always remember him for his beautiful performance for the Cuban people. Blessings," added another person.

Echemendía, with a remarkable career in theater, film, radio, and television in the island, is especially known for his character Iznaga in the television series Brothers (Adventures), although he also acted in memorable soap operas.
