Son of Enrique Molina calls artists who have not spoken out after the death of Carlos Massola cowards.

The son of the late Cuban actor Enrique Molina sent a strong message to the artists who have not spoken out following the unexpected death of his colleague Carlos Massola.

Without mincing words, Pavel Molina Ruiz called all the artists who have remained silent upon Massola's death cowards, a man who never feared expressing his true feelings and who in recent years raised his voice many times against the Cuban government.

To all the artists who have had the cowardice to remain silent in the face of the physical disappearance of this colleague of ours; and you know who you are. Stand in front of the mirror every morning and feel ashamed of your existence," he said on his Facebook profile.

"Know that Carlos Massola is more of an artist and more Cuban than each one of you," he emphasized.

Pavel stated that the political stance each person takes in their life has nothing to do with decency, courage, and justice, and pointed out what his father - who was very revolutionary - would have done in the face of the institutional silence surrounding Massola's death.

"If my father were alive, despite all the communist ideology and everything my father believed in that lie of the revolution, he would still have been the first to stand in front of the very minister to demand all the honors for this great man," he emphasized.

It's exactly about that, about having your own belief, but at the same time, having the guts to stand on the side of sensitivity and justice. That's how Enrique Molina was, and I feel very proud to be his son, repeating, with all the communist he was. Massola and Molina, both surpass quite a few potato heads on that island. Learn to wear pants and to carry your beliefs with coherence and common sense," he concluded.

The death of actor Carlos Massola, who had become an uncomfortable figure for the regime due to his denunciations, was completely ignored by the cultural authorities of Cuba.

No official cultural institution or state media outlets commented on his death.

In the midst of the prevailing official silence, the Assembly of Cuban Filmmakers published on Thursday, more than 24 hours after the death, a timid text in which they lamented the fact, while using a couple of euphemisms to refer to the actor's political rebellion.

Despite the silence in the official sphere, Massola received the tribute from many of his colleagues and the affection of the people, who appreciated the courage of the actor in expressing his political ideas and denouncing the government for its ineffectiveness and corruption, as well as for the violations of human rights and the repression of freedoms.
