The Cuban woman who reported the lack of a coffin for her uncle blames the social worker for his suicide.

The elderly man killed himself because the social worker who was taking care of him was forcing him to live alone under the threat that if he didn't, they would take away his checkbook.

A Cuban woman who last Wednesday reported the lack of a coffin and transportation for her deceased uncle, blames the social worker for his death.

Olenmis Miranda Sevilla is the niece of an elderly man from the town of La Estrella, in the municipality of Buey Arriba, Granma, whose body was left for several hours on the porch of a house, bloated and reeking, because there was no way to take it to the cemetery.

After publishing his complaint and resolving the situation, Olenmis revealed that his uncle committed suicide because the social worker who was assisting him was forcing him to live alone under the threat that if he didn't, they would take away his checkbook.

"He would corner him and insist that he should live alone because otherwise he would take away his checkbook. Imagine a person with a visual disability and only one arm, with nowhere to live, and my sister had him in her house, and they were practically forcing him to live under a bridge," she detailed on her Facebook.

"Tired of being threatened by that bad and miserable social worker, he took his own life. But God is great and powerful, and he will pay for that death," he emphasized.

The woman thanked everyone who shared the original post and the solidarity of many people who offered her help.

"I know this will bring a bit of disorder and many problems, but the crying, the pain, and all the suffering we are going through, especially seeing my mother and my grandmother in that agony, give me the courage to face whatever comes," he said.

"Now help me make that social worker pay for so many threats, as she caused the death of my old man," he emphasized.

Many internet users commented on the post, offering their condolences and criticizing the social worker's performance.

The social worker must help and support the needy and vulnerable. Certainly, your uncle, blind and disabled in one arm, could not live entirely on his own, and if he didn't have a home, where would he go? He conducted a poor vulnerability assessment, misapplied the law, and completely failed in his actions. We hope you receive a very convincing response with the sanction they apply," a woman said.

Those are the good social workers that this revolution has, the ones who take from the neediest to give it to their people, friends, and family, and they take it away from those who really need it," another person stated.

"It's like this, they pay me a check for the girls, and they keep threatening to take it away, as if that money came out of their pockets," questioned a young woman.

"I know it's true, that's what social workers do to the elderly, they say: 'if you don't live alone, then I'll take away your check.' That's what they did to my grandmother, after years of working for this country," another person stated.
