Puerto Rican celebrities compete in "Super Chef" contest with Cuban recipes.

Cuban recipes seemed simple but they got some contestants in trouble. Don't miss the cooking show.

Influencers and artists from Puerto Rico have put their culinary skills to the test on the famous reality show of Wapa Televisión, Super Chef Celebrities, preparing recipes from Cuba.

It is important to remember that Cuba has been suffering from a food crisis for decades, which worsened in the last three years due to the misguided economic policies of the regime. These recipes are becoming forgotten among the population of the island because they do not have the resources to prepare them at home regularly.

Super Chef Celebrities premiered on May 21st, and has captured the attention of the audience by bringing together twelve recognized Puerto Rican personalities from various areas such as acting, music, animation, sports, dance, modeling, fashion, and content creation for social media.

Now, in the semifinals phase, the contestants face the challenge of preparing traditional dishes from Cuban cuisine.

The jury, composed of chefs Enrique Piñeiro, Giovanna Huyke, and "pitmaster" José Edgardo Lucca, has put the participants to the test with a Cuban menu that includes:

Puerto Rican actress Yaiza Figueroa, one of the competitors, mentioned that her father-in-law is Cuban, which is why these recipes are familiar to her, especially the congri, which is one of her favorite rice dishes. "For heaven's sake! I have to do it right so that my husband and father-in-law are proud," she said with a laugh.

In the preparation of the congrí rice, they used canned black beans to speed up the process. In this case, the Puerto Rican chefs suggested a trick that you can try if you have little time to cook.

The "trick" consists of using a splash of red wine when preparing the sofrito so that the moros y cristianos rice dish has its characteristic color, despite being made with pre-prepared beans.

The reality show has not only put the contestants to work under pressure with surprise recipes and limited time but has also taken them out of their comfort zone. Such is the case of the influencer Miss Gala, who was the last contestant eliminated from the competition.

Miss Gala, known for her fashion content on social media, faced the challenge of adapting her usual structure and order to the unpredictable environment of the culinary competition.

Super Chef Celebrities has not only been able to entertain, but also to highlight the richness and diversity of Caribbean cuisine, merging Cuban tradition with Puerto Rican talent in an exciting and delicious culinary challenge.
