Yordenis Ugás revealed on Wednesday that the man detained in Cuba after entering the country on a jet ski contacted him for "some plans," and that he refused under the argument that he does not support violence.

In a Facebook post, the Cuban boxer detailed how the events unfolded, which ended with him blocking Ardenys García Álvarez's phone.

"That person went to my gym with someone else while I was on vacation, I was even recovering from surgery. My brother and my coach called me and told me that some people who wanted to see me didn't like them," the boxer recounted.

I told them to come by tomorrow. The next day I went and spoke with them and they told me about some plans, senseless ones, and I also told them that in 2024 I don't believe in violence, nor do I support it. I'm not paranoid, but I thought it was a trap they were setting up for me, to discredit me or I don't know," Ugás added.

He says that later Ardenys García called him, he never answered and ended up blocking his phone.

"I forgot about that, I thought he was crazy and now I see him talking on the news, like a cowardly, brutish, valueless and characterless person," concluded the boxer, who did not offer further details about "the plans" that the man now detained in Cuba would have mentioned.

Although Yordenis Ugás did not specify when Ardenys García Álvarez first contacted him, nor when they met in person, the boxer attached a screenshot showing communication attempts by Ardenys dating back to April 2022.

In the comments section of the post, dozens of followers of the Cuban-born athlete celebrated the boxer's attitude towards what they consider was clearly a setup, a trap to later accuse him of terrorism as well.

"Humberto would have dedicated several programs to you," speculated a follower of the boxer, who was pleased that the boxer had not fallen for the trap.

The alleged terrorist plot

In recent days, Willy González, leader of the organization "The New Cuban Nation in Arms" and mentioned by the Havana regime as the leader of an alleged conspiracy that resulted in an arrest in Cuba, denied from the city of Orlando, where he resides, any involvement in an armed operation on the island.

"Our organization provides military training, but not for subversive purposes," González stated in an interview with Telemundo 51. He mentioned that he does not recall having met Ardenys García Álvarez, the man detained in Cuba, although he does not rule out the possibility that he may have received military training within the scope of his organization."

"We have not carried out any operations in Cuba and we are not aware of any operations nor do we know anything about what they are talking about," said Willy González, who added that they have no plans involving violating the laws of the United States, although they do want to be prepared in case of an armed uprising in Cuba.

It was at the beginning of last week that the Cuban government announced that it had dismantled an alleged terrorist plan against the country - allegedly organized and financed from the USA - in which they stated that the key figure was a man who entered illegally by jet ski along the coasts of Matanzas in November 2023.

The citizen was now identified by authorities as Ardenys García Álvarez, 40 years old and a native of Cienfuegos.

The regime stated that García Álvarez had a criminal record on the island for the crimes of speculation and robbery with force. He had left the country illegally in 2014 and had been residing in the United States since then.

The Cuban authorities accuse Ardenys García Álvarez of illegally entering Cuba on a jet ski carrying weapons, of traveling to key locations, contacting individuals, and orchestrating terrorist plans on the island.

Ardenys is facing criminal charges for crimes against State Security, espionage, and offenses against the constitutional order, among others.
