Family and friends of Yosdany Rivero Morales, a 34-year-old Cuban man murdered in Tampa last Saturday, have requested financial assistance to cover the expenses for his funeral.
Maribel Peña, who identified herself as the victim's aunt, opened a petition on the Ever Loved platform with a set goal of 12,000 dollars, of which they have managed to raise 1,370 at the time of writing this note.
"We are coming together, family and friends, to help with the cost of the funeral. Yosdany's death was unexpected, we are heartbroken and we do not have the funds we need to pay for his funeral," wrote the woman.
Peña stated that the amount raised will be used for funeral expenses. "Please use the following details to contribute. We thank you very much from the bottom of our hearts in advance for your support and solidarity," he said.
To do this, he shared his Zelle account with the number 56 166 602 21.
There is no comfort anymore, only the solace of being able to say a final goodbye beside his parents and little son, his only sister, and all those who loved you in life," added Yosdany's aunt.
From the Facebook group "Revolico Sagua la Grande," they joined the request for collaboration so that Yosdany's remains can be sent to Cuba.
The accused of the murder of this young Cuban is Silvio Ramón Franco Peralta, 35 years old and a native of Sagua la Grande, where apparently Yosdany is also from.
After murdering his partner, Lianet Sosa Santos, another 31-year-old Cuban, Franco Peralta fled to 8710 N. Packwood Ave., on the outskirts of the city of Tampa, and at that residence he had a fight with Yosdany, who apparently was his friend, whom he also killed.
The detainee told the police that he had gone to the man's house and confessed the murder of Sosa. In addition, he asked for help to get rid of the weapon used and other belongings.
According to the authorities, a scuffle broke out between them and Franco stabbed him to death. The Cuban claimed that his victim had pulled out a firearm, but the evidence does not support his statement, the officials said.
Franco is currently facing seven charges for both crimes and offenses related to the persecution: two counts of first-degree murder, armed robbery in a dwelling with assault or injury, theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing to elude, driving with a canceled, suspended, or revoked license, and resisting an officer without violence.
Relatives of the other victim, a mother of a five-year-old girl, also opened a petition on the fundraising platform GoFundMe to cover the funeral expenses with a set goal of $15,000, of which as of the writing of this note, they have managed to raise $11,871.
