Pitcher Wilber Reina Lanchazo, who on July 6th received a strong blow to the face during a game against Industriales, continues to recover in his hometown of Santiago de Cuba.

According to journalist Yasel Porto's Facebook post, Wilber had his stitches removed on Tuesday and will return to the hospital Saturnino Lora for a follow-up appointment next week, where he was hospitalized for several days.

The young pitcher was hit by the ball on the upper lip and did not have serious complications. He was treated in the Neurology Department.

Even though it was initially said to be a fracture, it was later confirmed that it was not.

Not even his teeth, there was no trauma, neither neurological, just the impact of the ball," detailed one of the doctors who treated him.

Wilber Reina was hit by a pitch during the fifth inning of the decisive play-off game between Santiago and Industriales, at Guillermón Moncada Stadium.

He collapsed on the mound from the impact, although he did not lose consciousness.

Immediately, the athlete was transferred to the emergency room of the aforementioned hospital, but he was always stable and out of danger, under surveillance.

The game ended with a 4-2 victory for Industriales, leaving Santiago out of the championship's semifinals, thanks to a historic and unprecedented comeback in the postseason stage.
