Andy Vázquez on Julio César La Cruz's defeat: "What a strong punch you took from one of Patria y Vida."

"Yes, we are happy that La Cruz loses to another free Cuban."

The comedian Andy Vázquez responded to the criticisms from ciberclarias who reproach him for rejoicing at the unexpected defeat of the boxer Julio César La Cruz against another Cuban at the Paris Olympics.

Andy shared on his Facebook wall a photo from this Sunday’s fight between "La Sombra" and the Cuban-Azerbaijani Loren Berto Alfonso, taken at a moment when he delivered a strong right hook to the double Olympic champion.

"Shout now!" wrote Andy, referring to what La Cruz did in the Tokyo 2020 Games when, after defeating his compatriot Enmanuel Reyes Pla, who had become a Spanish national, he shouted: "Homeland and Life, no! Homeland or Death, we will overcome!"

"How hard one from Patria y Vida hit you. What do my catfish say?" joked the comedian.

As he clarified in a live session on his Facebook profile, many defenders of the dictatorship did not like that he mocked "the slap entry" that another Cuban naturalized abroad gave to La Cruz, "a traitor," he remarked ironically.

"Look at the sticks (arms) that the other Cuban has; that's jama, that's beef, that's not ground meat or the burro banana that they give to those people in Cerro Pelado," he commented.

The creator of Facundo Correcto recalled how the lives of many former Cuban athletes who brought glory to the country have ended, and highlighted the case of former volleyball player Abel Sarmientos, who died this month in Havana at the age of 61, mired in poverty and oblivion.

"I am told not to mock, because we are the ones who mock. Yes, we are glad that [La Cruz] loses for another free Cuban. Don't mix politics with sports? Tell that to the motherfucker," he concluded.

What do you think?
