The value of the dollar and the euro took a step back this Thursday, with both experiencing a drop of five pesos in the average selling price in the Cuban informal market.
At 7:00 a.m. (Cuban local time) the dollar is valued at 330 CUP and the euro at 340, in both cases five units less compared to the previous day.
The freely convertible currency (MLC) - the economic monstrosity with which the government has been operating since 2021 - is the only one that shows no changes compared to the previous day and remains at 280 CUP.
The slight drop in the value of the dollar and the euro occurs after a day of calm, a pause in the informal market, which on Wednesday did not record any increase or decrease in selling prices.
After a sustained decline that lasted almost a month, on July 23, the three reference currencies in Cuba marked a new shift in their selling values.
Over eight days, they rose indiscriminately, almost always by five at a time and at a slower pace than recorded in April and early May, when increases of 20 and even 30 pesos in a single day became the norm.
