Truck falls from a bridge in the east of Havana; occupants emerge unhurt.

A truck fell off a bridge while traveling on a road towards Berroa, in Havana, this Monday, and fortunately, its occupants emerged unscathed from the accident, according to witnesses of the event.

"A truck has just fallen off the bridge after the Santa Fe bridge, towards Berroa," reported user Ricardo Andy Blanco Noy in a post in the Facebook group "Accidents Buses & Trucks for more experience and fewer victims!"

In the comments, Blanco said that the truck was carrying the driver and a soldier, who "came out with bruises, but okay." In response to someone, he assured that both "walked out."

In response to a comment about the possibility that the driver may have taken a curve in the road too quickly, the author of the post stated that the truck "was coming from Santa Fe, was on a straight stretch," and speculated that they might have fallen asleep.

Another internet user, identified as Edy Eduardo, posted a photo of the truck that was involved in the accident, which ended up suspended over one of the retaining walls of the bridge and suffered significant damage to the chassis, as can be seen in the image.

So far, the causes that led to the accident and the health status of the people traveling in the vehicle are unknown.

Truck and other vehicle falls from bridges on the country’s roads are not infrequent, according to reports that circulate on social media.

In May, a car known as "almendrones" in Cuba fell off the divider of a bridge at kilometer 69 of the National Highway, in the town of Nueva Paz. One person sustained serious injuries.

Seven injured, three of them seriously, was the main toll of an accident that occurred on the Masó-Las Mercedes road in Granma, where a truck fell from a bridge last February.

In recent days, multiple road accidents that have occurred in the country have reported fatalities and injuries.

In a tragic accident that occurred in the early hours of Sunday on the stretch of the National Highway that runs through the province of Villa Clara, four people lost their lives, including a minor.

Another fatal accident reported on Saturday in Pinar del Río left one young man deceased and several others injured after a bus flipped over while heading to Cayo Jutías beach, on the northern coast of the westernmost province of Cuba.

Last Wednesday, a strong collision between a passenger truck and a car resulted in the death of two people and an undetermined number of injuries in the province of Ciego de Ávila.
