The hurricane season remains active in the Atlantic Ocean, and now the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued an alert for the formation of a tropical wave that could organize in the next seven days.

The weather system is located "over the eastern tropical Atlantic" and "is producing widespread disorganized rain and thunderstorms," reported from the NHC.

In their forecast, they stated that "conditions are expected to become more favorable for development early next week, and a tropical depression could form as it approaches the Lesser Antilles."

The odds are that the system will move northwest and could approach the Greater Antilles by the middle of next week.

Cuban meteorologist Raydel Ruisanchez warned that "residents in the Caribbean, especially in the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic should monitor this situation over the next few days."

The formation of this event precedes Debby, a storm that is still affecting the United States and has caused significant damage, including four deaths, in Florida.
