Two adult fatalities and six injuries, including two children, is the unfortunate outcome of a traffic accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon in the municipality of Mayarí, in the province of Holguín, when a Chevrolet almendrón crashed into a tree.
The tragic incident occurred after 3:30 p.m. between the neighborhoods of Arroyo Blanco and El Solibano, for reasons that are unknown.
In the incident, Yendri Saldaña Díaz, 40 years old, and Alexander Santiago González Vera, 52 years old, died, reported the communicator Loidel Gainza on social media.
Adianés La O Torres, director of the Mártires de Mayarí Hospital, specified to the mentioned source that the injured are:
-6-year-old Lisbeth Ávila is in serious condition, in intensive care. (The cause of her condition was not stated).
-Lázaro Ávila Rojas, 8 years old, has a fractured collarbone and will be transferred to the main municipality.
-Yanet Rojas Ramírez, with abdominal trauma, underwent surgery.
-Maritza Paredes Martínez, 57 years old and a resident of Cabonico, has a fracture of the pelvis and femur.
-Dailín Machado, victim of a head trauma with transfer to a provincial center.
-Yurixan Ortiz Benítez, 34 years old, a resident of Levisa who is being monitored with a rib fracture.
In one of the most recent events, a motorized police officer died on Friday in another traffic accident in Holguín, this time in the municipality of Sagua de Tánamo.
A post in the Facebook group Accidentes Buses & Camiones indicated that the incident involved the deceased officer and a truck, and that it occurred at the location known as “Curva del Carpintero,” on the Levisa - Sagua road.
