Florida Republican Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott introduced a resolution in the Senate condemning the Cuban regime for its role as a refuge for actors who pose a direct threat to the national security of the United States and regional stability.

The resolution highlights that the dictatorship led by Miguel Díaz-Canel has facilitated the presence of China, Russia, Iran, and Venezuela on the island.

In the document published on his website, Rubio emphasized the need for the United States to continue defending democracy and human rights, stating that the Castro/Díaz-Canel regime has acted as a puppet of these countries.

"Cuba is a refuge for our adversaries, and the U.S. must counter this serious threat to our national security interests," he wrote on the social media platform X, where he announced the resolution he is leading.

"America has a moral duty to defend the interests of our nation, and we must continue to uphold democratic order and justice in our hemisphere," Rubio stated.

For his part, Scott criticized the Biden-Harris administration for continuing with appeasement policies toward the Cuban regime, which “is a destabilizing force in the Western Hemisphere and a refuge for terrorists.”

"We are using all the strength of our government to hold it (the island's government) accountable and support the brave Cuban people," he added.

In addition, Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar has presented a complementary resolution in the House of Representatives, reinforcing the critical stance towards the Cuban regime and its impact on the region.

This initiative comes at a time of increasing international tension and reflects the commitment of U.S. lawmakers to address what they consider a threat to regional security and stability.
