Galerías Paseo, a popular store in Havana, suspended its sales to the public this Wednesday due to a shortage of paper for issuing purchase receipts, as reported on social media.

User María Orizondo reported on Facebook that the lack of paper rolls for ticket printers prevented the establishment from offering its usual services in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality.

Upon inquiring about the situation, Orizondo discovered the existing reality, and the clients found themselves with no options for making purchases while awaiting the arrival of the necessary materials.

The outlook is even worse, as the Cuban government has run out of paper to print and produce the notebooks, books, and exercise books needed by the students who have just started the 2022-2023 school year.

Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, Minister of Education, assured that the paper available will only allow for the printing of part of the materials, therefore they must reuse books and reduce the per capita amount of notebooks.

In January, Cuban authorities also reported that the country did not have the raw materials necessary for the production of the supply notebooks corresponding to the year 2024.

The information, published by the Provincial Government of the People's Power of Matanzas, indicates that there are delays "in the importation of raw materials for the production of supply notebooks, which resulted in a significant delay in their printing and distribution to carry out the change of notebooks corresponding to 2024."

Regarding the store, just a few days ago, social media users reported the state of neglect in which the iconic shopping center is located in Vedado, where the customer experience is currently "painful, unpleasant, humiliating."

Likewise, internet user Arianna Llana alerted in the Facebook group "EL Vedado de Hoy" about people living in conditions of begging in the lower levels of the complex.
