The explosion of an electric motorcycle in a house in the Luyanó neighborhood of the Diez de Octubre municipality in Havana resulted in four fatalities, including a one-year-old baby, and a thirteen-year-old girl seriously injured.

The initial information about this tragic event that took place on the morning of last Wednesday reported only two deceased individuals; however, the independent outlet 14 y Medio updated and expanded the information.

According to neighbors who spoke to the mentioned outlet, in the house where the explosion occurred, located at number 203 on Marqués de la Torre street, there were two scooters. One of them was left charging overnight, and shortly after seven in the morning, it exploded.

Despite the neighbors attempting to help rescue the residents of the area, the entrance door was locked with a grille and a padlock, making it impossible to gain access. "They were trapped," lamented one of those who came to assist.

The deceased were identified as a couple consisting of Andrés Herrera and Yiliam Martínez, as well as their two daughters -Vanesa and Verónica-. There was also a cousin of the family who stayed in the house because he could not return home. The three adults died at the scene.

The girls were rescued alive by the firefighters, although the youngest -Verónica- passed away shortly after.

Her sister is reported to be in serious condition in the burn unit of the Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital.
