Cuban little league players make a grand debut in the Little League World Series.

In a duel of excellent pitching, the Caribbean team recorded four hits and was perfect on defense, while their European rival connected for only a couple of hits and committed an error in the field.

The Bombarderos de Santa Clara, representatives of Cuba, made a spectacular debut this Thursday in the Little League World Series, defeating the Czech Republic 4-1 at the Volunteers Stadium, located in the American city of Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

In a duel of excellent pitching, the Caribbean team hit four singles and was perfect in defense, while their European rival connected only a couple of hits and made one error in the field.

The success went to Deivis Hernandez's biography and the defeat was for Illia Kolomoiets, while the lanky Yan Espinosa secured the point with a saved game.

The Cuban team, which had great support at the opening, will return to the field next Monday against the winner of the match between Australia and Chinese Taipei.

The Santa Clara Bombers reigned in the national tournament of the island, after defeating their counterpart from Sancti Spíritus in the grand final, a victory that led them to represent Cuba in the mentioned event, scheduled from August 14 to 25.

The rules of the event state that there is double elimination, so the team that suffers two losses must say goodbye to the possibility of medals and farewell to the tournament of 20 teams, half of which are from the host country.
