Cuba finished in fourth place at the U-18 Pan American Baseball Championship, after losing this Sunday to Puerto Rico (2-3) in the bronze medal match held at the Rod Carew Stadium in Panama City, Panama.

According to the digital site JIT, the team led by Michael González displayed a weak offense in the match, getting only four singles, and could not take advantage of the nine walks granted by the opposing pitching.

The Boricuas, in the meantime, took advantage of the four errors made by the opposing defense, and their three runs were unearned, always against the starting pitcher - and loser - César Morales.

However, the largest of the Antilles secured one of the tickets for the world tournament of the category, something that had not been achieved since 2017.

"We would have liked to return to Cuba with a medal," expressed catcher Yadier Ruíz to the aforementioned publication.

Cuba had an excellent qualifying round, but fell to the host Panama in the semifinals while trying to compete for the crown.
