The victorious debut this Thursday of the Cuban representative team in the Little League World Series, held in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, has also seen the presence of Cubans residing in the United States, who have come to support the young players from Santa Clara.
With Cuban flags and uniforms from the Villa Clara team, the province from which the young Cuban players who traveled to this edition of the Little League World Series come, fans attended the stadium and took photos nearby.
The Cubans debuted with a victory (4-1) this Thursday against the team from Czechia, which represents the Europe-Africa zone, at the Volunteer Stadium, one of the venues for the competition.
On the same day, Japan defeated Puerto Rico, 11-0, in what was the second day of this event that will take place until August 25, also at Lamade Stadium.
The format of the tournament, which may be complex to understand at first, consists of some teams playing a first round, where the losers do not have to worry because they will still have a chance to continue in this competition, as they will go to the elimination zone, while those who win will remain in the winners' bracket.
It is worth mentioning that the teams that are in the elimination zone, if they lose another game, will say goodbye to the tournament.
The known "Bombarderos de Santa Clara" had arrived on U.S. soil on August 9 through Miami International Airport.
This Wednesday, they participated in the inaugural parade of the tournament. Riding on a float, the young Cuban athletes marched through the streets of that American city, and many attendees waved flags of the island and shouted several times: Cuba, Cuba.
