In the early hours of this Sunday, a fire in a house in Miami left one person dead and another arrested in connection with the incident, local authorities reported.
Units from the Miami City Fire Department responded to the emergency call at a house located at 3056 SW 13th Street, around two in the morning.
The incident has shocked the neighbors in the area, who reported hearing screams before the disaster.
Upon arriving at the scene, the firefighters found dense smoke and intense flames coming from the back of the house.
Rescue teams located an efficiency at the back of the structure, completely engulfed in flames.
After approximately 10 minutes of intense work, the firefighters managed to extinguish the fire.
After the fire was extinguished, the rescue teams found one deceased person inside the house.
The neighbors reported in statements to local media that they woke up to the sirens of the fire trucks.
Others, on the other hand, claim they heard screams before the fire, and many of them believe that the fire may have been deliberately set.
The Miami Police reported that one person has been arrested in connection with the incident, although the identity of the detainee has not yet been revealed, nor have details about their possible involvement in the events been provided.
The damaged property is a house that is apparently rented out under the Airbnb model.
Homicide detectives and the Miami fire investigation unit are working together to determine the motive behind the fire.
