Cuban teacher dies after being struck by lightning at a beach in Sancti Spíritus.

The victim came out of the sea to dry off under a bush, and that’s where she was struck by the lightning.

A well-known teacher from Sancti Spíritus passed away on Thursday after being struck by lightning while enjoying a day at the beach.

The tragic event occurred at the popular Playa La Boca, located 7 km from Trinidad.

The victim was named Adriana Rey Hernández, she was married and had two children.

According to relatives reporting on social media, at the time of her death, she was not bathing; she had come out of the sea to dry herself under a tree, and that’s where she was struck by the electric shock.

Hundreds of people have expressed their sorrow on the Internet for the passing of the esteemed teacher.

"With deep sorrow and sadness, the Julio Antonio Mella Municipal University Center of Trinidad mourns the passing of Licentiate Adriana Rey Hernández. Our condolences go out to family and friends on behalf of the professors and the management council," wrote Eduardo R. Aguila Turiño, director of the institution.
