The rear containers of a cargo trailer were left without a roof on the morning of this Saturday after colliding with the Calabazar bridge in Havana, with no injuries reported.

"The Howo truck went under the Calabazar bridge and misjudged the height, causing its roof to collapse, landing next to a little horse that was parked there; there were no damages or injuries, everyone is fine," wrote the user Presente Gerlito in the Facebook group "Automotive Accidents in Cuba."

The remains of the crashed vehicle fell near a traffic police officer (known as caballitos), who was underneath the bridge with his motorcycle.

The images show several people helping to gather the debris from the containers. Traffic on that path was not interrupted, and the police officer, apparently, continued doing his job without assisting the driver.

The containers allegedly were part of adaptations made in Cuba, where they are converted into rooms or offices, as it can be seen that they had a door, a window, and an installed air conditioner.

Several users have commented on the incident, and most point to the height given to the road every time it is paved, which makes these types of events more frequent.

"I think they should readjust the asphalt of the roads under the bridges, as the space between the load and the bridge decreases as they add layers of asphalt," wrote an internet user.

“Look, the height measurements for the traffic rules on those bridges no longer exist, and I’ll tell you why; road maintenance has been done, and the height measurements have increased,” said another person.

However, some users pointed out that the driver should be blamed for not checking if his vehicle could fit under that bridge.

"Lack of caution from the driver knowing the cargo he is transporting," added an internet user.

"That bridge is marked and has its detour to go up and down on the other side; the poor guy didn't think he wouldn't fit, that can happen to any driver," stated another user.

In 2020, a truck that was traveling on the Vía Blanca towards Matanzas got stuck on the road after being unable to pass under a bridge.

The incident occurred in the area where the establishment known as El Trébol de Mar Azul is located.

Last year, the container carrying a trailer that collided with a bridge in the province of Sancti Spíritus was deformed after the hard impact.
