The tragedy strikes again in a family from Hialeah, which in less than two years has suffered the loss of two of its members: first a young mother and now her husband, both of whom died in traffic accidents.
Last Wednesday, Antonio José Estrada, 38 years old, was visiting his family when he went out for a ride on his all-terrain motorcycle. At 53 Terrace and 5th Avenue West, he turned left, lost control of the ATV, and crashed into a house. He was transported by helicopter to Jackson Memorial Hospital, but did not survive his injuries.
The death of Estrada leaves his son Jacob orphaned, whose mother tragically passed away in another accident that occurred in 2022. The little boy has now lost his dad, right the day before turning nine years old.
Jacob was with his mom the day she died. The little boy managed to survive despite suffering a brain injury, multiple fractures, and damage to his liver, heart, and kidneys.
Her mother did not make it. Her name was Cristina Hernández, 30 years old, she was a nurse and was five weeks pregnant.
The accident in which she lost her life occurred on December 19, 2022, in Miramar, near the intersection of Flamingo Road and Somerset Boulevard, after the woman picked up her son from school.
They were struck by a 16-year-old who was driving his father's Lexus without a license and was going over 110 miles per hour while under the influence of marijuana.
The teenager, identified as Cristhian Bravo, a student at Everglades Senior High School, is in jail and being tried as an adult, accused of vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter.
The police also accuse his father, José Bravo De La Torre, of allowing the boy to drive his car without a license.
