Leinieski González Barallobre, the young Cuban who was attacked with a machete while returning from a quinceañera party in his neighborhood of El Caney, in Santiago de Cuba early Friday morning, underwent surgery at the Saturnino Lora Provincial Hospital, reported independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada.

The communicator reported not having new updates on the health status of this person, due to pressures that the management of the health institution has placed on the relatives of the attacked individual.

"Yesterday we filed the complaint, but the sister of the injured was called to the Provincial Hospital Saturnino Lora and threatened" so that she would not provide information to sources they consider unofficial.

According to their publication, the aggressor was arrested and identified as Javier. The reasons for this fight remain unclear.

Mayeta Labrada expressed her regret for not being able to provide updated information about the postoperative condition of González Barallobre, and therefore requested her followers and contacts within the Saturnino Lora Hospital to message her privately if they had detailed information about the recovery of this Santiago man.

Likewise, he addressed the Santiago authorities specifically and told them not to repress or harass the people of whom they "don't remotely know who my sources are."

González Barallobre was initially treated at the Juan Bruno Zayas Clinical Surgical Hospital due to its proximity, but because of the injuries he sustained, he was transferred to the Saturnino Lora Provincial Hospital.

The sister of the assaulted man is asking that "the aggressor pays for what he did," as he could have killed her brother and the 16-year-old minor who was with him.
