The girlfriend of Cuban volleyball player Roamy Alonso is found dead in Turkey.

Authorities reported that his body showed no signs of violence and he was found lifeless in his bed.

The Puerto Rican volleyball player, Pilar Marie Victoriá López, girlfriend of Cuban-born volleyball player Roamy Alonso, was found dead last Thursday, August 29, in the apartment where she lived in Turkey, international media reported.

Victoriá López, 28 years old, was a player for the club Nilüfer Belediyespor, located in the city of Ankara, where this unfortunate incident occurred.

Although the causes of his death have not been revealed yet, the authorities reported that his body showed no signs of violence and he was found lifeless in his bed.

The young woman had been in a romantic relationship for a few years with Roamy Alonso, the volleyball player from the Cuban national team, who plays in the Italian league and has a contract with Prisma Taranto this year, after playing the last two seasons with Piacenza.

Her death was reported after she missed a practice with her team, and they found her lifeless when they went to look for her at her residence, owned by the club in Besevler, in the city of Ankara.

The parents of the young woman issued a statement. "We appreciate all the expressions of affection for our beloved daughter Pilar Marie Victoriá López. Since we received the devastating news of her passing, we have gone through very hard hours that we never imagined we would live. We have had to face the greatest fear of every parent: losing a son or daughter," they expressed.

Victoriá López was the daughter of former Puerto Rican Double A baseball pitcher Luis Ernesto Victoriá and excelled as a volleyball player at both national and international levels.
