"The Cuban is the most detail-oriented man there is": Cuban TikToker sparks debate on social media

Reactions are divided between messages of support and criticism for their generalization.

The Cuban TikToker Nathyy Zaldivar Toro has caused a stir on the platform by posting a video titled "The Cubans," in which she addressed the negative stereotypes associated with men born on the island, aiming to dismantle them and highlight the positive traits that, according to her, make them unique.

In the video, which at the time of this note has accumulated over 281.3 thousand views, 24.1 thousand likes, and more than 2,500 comments, this Cuban living in the United States began by mentioning some of the prejudices and stereotypes that exist about Cubans: "The Cuban is the most undesirable being there is," "Cuban people don't like to work," and "Cuban men have two or three women," she cited some.

However, he quickly countered these ideas by stating that the Cuban "is the most detail-oriented man," the "most romantic," and "the hardest worker there is" when he has clear goals or purposes.

Additionally, @nathyy.zaldivar.t emphasized that Cubans were very family-oriented, always seeking to improve themselves and had a special energy that made them stand out.

Nathyy also emphasized that Cubans always care about their appearance, highlighting that "you will always see them well-groomed with a nice scent."

In addition, he mentioned that despite the challenges, a Cuban man has the ability to "take you to hell and at the same time lift you to the clouds," suggesting that his charisma and energy are irresistible. He added in the video that has generated a wide variety of reactions.

Some users supported Nathyy's defense of Cuban men: "That's very true, I'm from Costa Rica and I've been with my Cuban for 20 years and I'm the happiest person in the world"; "For sure, there are no two like Cubans"; "We Cubans are all-inclusive"; "I am Cuban married to a Dominican and I can say that a Cuban is a Cuban"; "Cubans are the best," some expressed.

However, not everyone agreed with the vision of this young Cuban, criticizing her generalizations: "Well, I think I was misled because my Cuban husband is none of that, neither thoughtful nor romantic, the only thing he is is family-oriented, other than that, none of that"; "Not everyone is like that, excuse me, I’m Cuban"; "A good person will be good regardless of the country they come from, some won’t be that good and others won’t be that bad"; "But those thoughtful and romantic Cubans, are they here among us? I don’t deny the rest"; "My question is: have you been with all Latinos to know that Cubans are the best?", they added.

The varied reactions of users reflect the diversity of experiences and perceptions regarding Cuban men and have sparked a debate on TikTok, both about stereotypes and positive qualities.
