Cuban in the USA explains how she lost her job for being Cuban: "My accent stands out more than my clothes."

Despite her efforts to adapt to the language and culture, she claims that her boss discriminated against her.

A Cuban woman (@life_byanita) shared in a TikTok video that she lost her job in the United States for being Cuban. She recounts that she worked surrounded by Americans and, although her English is not perfect, she always made an effort to communicate in the best way possible. However, her immediate boss would often make fun of her accent and pretended not to understand her. "My Cuban accent stands out more than my clothes," the young woman remarked.

As the relationship with her boss worsened, she began to accuse her of not performing her job correctly. "It all started when she began to take me to the office acting like I wasn't doing my job properly," she explained. The Cuban, feeling attacked, reacted: "That's when my Cuban side came out."

Finally, her boss filed complaints with the supervisor. She tried to defend herself to the supervisor and emphasizes that she had never spoken English as well as she did at that moment. "I told her that it was all a lie; that woman looked like a chicken." Unfortunately, her reaction did not change the outcome, and she lost her job: “I was left without work and unable to pay my debts.”

The Cuban concluded the video with a reflection: “In this life, few are friends; the only one who will take care of your back is yourself.”
