Ariel, Martha's "grandson," mourns the death of his pet: "It wasn't just a squirrel, you were my squirrel, my mommy."

Mami came into his life when she was about 15 days old; she fell from her nest high up in a tree, and Ariel took care of feeding her with milk and keeping her warm.

Pets become a member of the family, and saying goodbye to them when death occurs is never easy. Ariel Ramos Perdomo, "Martha's grandson" as we know him on social media, mourned the death of his squirrel, whom he affectionately called Mami.

On Instagram, the Cuban influencer shared with deep sadness the video of the last moments spent with the little animal.

"I never imagined these would be the last minutes I would spend with you. Life continues to surprise me, and this time for the worse. I can't express everything I feel at this moment because they would call me crazy. It wasn't just a squirrel; you were my squirrel, the one I rescued and fed, my baby, a crucial part of my American family, the little I have here, and today I had to say goodbye," Ariel wrote with deep emotion after his loss.

"It seems it was a heart attack. I took her outside, it's the video you are watching. There was a moment when I felt she was suffocating and I brought her back inside. We were outside for less than 10 minutes, but it was crucial for her little heart to not endure. I regret having to make this post; I would never post something like this if it weren't because I exposed her on social media and I owe you an explanation because you always ask me about her. I can only tell you that I feel really bad," the influencer explained.

Ariel had shared special moments on social media with the squirrel that have become very cherished memories for him.

Mami came into her life when she was about 15 days old, she fell from her nest high in a tree, and Ariel took care of feeding her milk and keeping her warm until she grew and taught her what she could eat and took her out for walks.

In addition to having her own profile on Instagram, Mami was the star of many of her videos; we saw her running around the house, eating nuts and beans, walking on her body among her clothes, and standing on top of her cap showing off her beautiful tail.
