Cuban mother pleads for help to repatriate the body of her son who passed away in the U.S.

The young man died in a traffic accident last weekend.

A devastated mother pleads from Cuba for help to be able to say goodbye to the remains of her 27-year-old son, who recently passed away in a traffic accident in the United States.

"Oh, I want my son here, sir, help me, my God!" the woman is heard pleading in heartbreaking images broadcast by Univision.

For the moment, the grieving mother has set up a kind of altar with photos of her son, but she is pleading for help to have the young man's body repatriated.

The deceased young man, identified as Yunior Leyva Céspedes, was originally from Palma Soriano, in Santiago de Cuba.

Leyva Céspedes had only been in the United States for a year, a country he arrived in after a journey through several countries and after waiting up to two months at the border to be able to enter U.S. territory.

However, his dreams and goals were shattered when during the early morning of September 14, a 63-year-old driver collided from behind with the Hyundai in which the Cuban was traveling along with two other young women, aged 19 and 24, who also died in the tragic accident.

In the United States, a friend of the victim is trying to have the body of Yunior Leyva repatriated and delivered to his family, according to the mentioned media outlet, which did not specify whether there is a GoFundMe account to raise funds.

The traffic accident occurred around four in the morning last Saturday on Interstate-595, near Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Leyva Céspedes and the 24-year-old passenger died instantly. The 19-year-old girl was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where she died around 5:00 a.m.

Florida Highway Patrol investigators told News Miami that a blue BMW AG was traveling eastbound on I-595, just west of that road, when the driver, a 63-year-old man, failed to notice that a Hyundai Accent was traveling at a slower speed, causing the front of the BMW to collide with the Hyundai.

In recent months, several Cuban families have been mourning the unexpected deaths of loved ones in tragic traffic accidents in the United States.
