Warning of heavy rains for all of Cuba

In the west and center, showers, rains, and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, while in the east, the precipitation will be concentrated in the interior and south in the afternoon.

The Cuban Meteorological Institute (Insmet) reported this Tuesday about intense rain conditions that will affect a large part of the country, intensifying during the afternoon and night, especially in the western region.

In the weather segment of the official television program Buenos Días, it was reported that showers, rain, and thunderstorms are expected in the west and center starting in the morning.

In the east, the precipitation will be concentrated in the interior and south in the afternoon, as reported through the video posted on the social network Facebook.

Currently, a large area of low pressure in the northwest Caribbean Sea - Tropical Storm Helene - has shown greater organization in the last 12 hours, which could lead to the formation of a depression or tropical storm in the coming days.

Heavy rain and local flooding are also expected in the western and central regions, with a risk of coastal flooding in the southwestern area, depending on the trajectory of the weather system.

It is worth noting that the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in the United States confirmed that Tropical Storm Helene has already formed in the northwest Caribbean Sea, and forecasts indicate that it will rapidly intensify, potentially reaching hurricane strength in the coming hours.

The institution's warning alerts about the danger that this phenomenon poses for Cuba, the Yucatán Peninsula, and the southeastern coast of the United States, especially in Florida.
