Impressive images of flooding in Batabanó caused by Hurricane Helene.

Hurricane Helene has caused at least 40 deaths in the U.S.

Hurricane Helene left its mark on the western region of Cuba, where it caused significant coastal flooding in low-lying areas of the province of Mayabeque, especially in Surgidero de Batabanó.

The photographs and videos captured from the site show the magnitude of the seawater incursions, which affected the southern coast after several hours under the influence of the winds and the wide circulation of the powerful hurricane.

The provinces most affected by the phenomenon were Pinar del Río and Mayabeque; but the most striking images were those from Batabanó, in the latter province, where the water rose over a meter and entered the houses.

The strong swell in Surgidero de Batabanó caused serious damage, with the sea invading urban areas and affecting local infrastructure.
